Configuring media server parameters

To change the media server configuration settings, you can edit media_server.conf that is found in mrcp-api/docker/lumenvox/ when MRCP is installed in the Linux based docker environment.

The values specified in this file will be used by the Media Server when it is first started and will apply to all recognitions unless overwritten as part of the MRCP request. All of the Server Specific Parameters must be set in the configuration file and cannot be modified without restarting the server.

The MRCPv2 specification allows for MRCP sessions to include, as part of a RECOGNITION or SET-PARAMS method, changes to MRCP parameters that apply to that session. The parameters that are part of the standard are outlined in our Streaming Media Properties article and may be set either via configuration file or as part of the session.

LumenVox has also extended the MRCPv2 specification with a number of vendor-specific parameters. Much like the standard parameters, these can be set in either the configuration file or as part of a RECOGNITION or SET-PARAMS method. These vendor-specific parameters are documented in our Vendor-Specific Properties article.

If you are used to working with Voice XML (VXML) or the LumenVox Speech Engine API, we also have an article that can guide you in how various  VXML/API properties correspond with MRCP properties.
